My Story

I’ve always known I wanted to make an impact on people’s lives, and my personal experiences have shaped the path that brought me here. For years, I struggled to prove my worth and show the world my intelligence and my worth. Unresolved childhood traumas disrupted my journey, leading me to avoid my true purpose. I attended school intermittently, worked in various fields, always searching but never settling.

One day, I set out to explore the world, embarking on a two-year journey of self-discovery around the world. When I returned home, I was broke and without a place of my own. Determined to regain stability, I borrowed money to enrol in an accounting program, hoping it would help me pay off debts and find my next steps. Eventually, I found work in the film industry, where I stayed for 12 years. During that time, I fell in love, purchased my first home, got married, and became a mother to two beautiful children, Emily and Alex.

Motherhood illuminated my purpose: to create a safe, stable and loving space where my children could grow into their authentic selves. Sadly, my marriage was far from healthy. It drained me emotionally, leaving me isolated and with little self-confidence. Amid a tumultuous divorce and the intense challenges of contentious co-parenting, I began the long fight to rebuild myself. Despite facing countless obstacles, I graduated and became a Registered Holistic Nutritionist in British Columbia. However, financial pressures pulled me back into the accounting field.

Life brought new challenges when my daughter, Emily, at just 16 years old, began battling severe depression, emotional dysregulation, and ADHD. The experience plunged me into deep despair, but parenting groups and community support became lifelines, helping me grow and trust the process. Through incredible resilience and strength, Emily emerged from the darkness and is now thriving at university, every day she teaches me about vision, life and unconditional love. My son, Alex, My son, Alex, inspires me daily with his lessons on simplicity, true happiness, and self-compassion.

Amid the many challenges, I faced another profound loss when I unexpectedly lost both of my parents within eight months of each other in 2023. Their passing forced me to redefine my identity, my roots and navigate life without their presence.

The past few years have been among the most difficult of my life, often leaving me on the edge of giving up. Yet, a small, unwavering fire within kept me moving forward. Each challenge became an opportunity to shift my perspective, and overcoming them made me braver, stronger, and wiser.

Becoming a counsellor isn’t about sharing my story or offering solutions to others. Instead, it’s about helping individuals recognize their own obstacles, pain, and trauma. My role is to guide them with awareness and equip them with tools to navigate their challenges. This approach doesn’t seek praise or dependency but ultimately aims to empower folks to feel stronger and take pride in their own growth.
